I've read the manga and watched the anime. It was a revelation to me at that age that these genres could handle darker topics. I enjoyed the ride this story takes its readers on and the characters are memorable. Well worth checking out even for someone who doesn't typically read manga. But be sure to check the content warnings if that could be an issue as these books can get heavy.

Ummm okay that was freaking amazing and I'm so pissed my library doesn't have anymore copies so I definitely will be investing in purchasing this series. If you are into horror, suspense, and more I would definitely give this manga a try!! It was so good I don't even have the words to describe how much I enjoyed it.

I had heard many people rave about this series in the manga reading community and have been meaning to check it out so i finally didXD. Going into this book i basically knew nothing and the beginning was ok as it introduced us to all the characters. It was interesting to see the story set in Germany which i did not expect and was pleasantly intrigued by. As the story went on, the plot got more intriguing and captivating i genuinely couldn't put the book down and am so glad i picked up the first volume. The reason why i gets only 4 stars is because it is the first volume so I'm anticipating it getting better and can't wait to finish the story and see where it goes also to see the stakes get higher and see how the author will go with the characters that have been introduced. I would have liked more info about Tenma's life before he came to Germany which hopefully we get something in the future books which usually i wouldn't care for as much but i am interested to see why he came all the way to Germany other than for his research and how he met Eva.

This is the most incredible manga I’ve read to date. Dr. Tenma’s story of a hunt for a monster is gripping, suspenseful and an absolute joy to read. All the different characters, arcs and plots combine into a thriller/mystery that seeks its equal. I will think about Nina, Tenma, Dieter, Grimmer and Johan for a long time.

A very tentative 4.5 rounded down for now. I forget how I heard about this series, but I'm very glad I did and I'm excited to see where this goes!

This was not as interesting as I had hoped it would be. Perhaps I need to get further along into the story, as this was mainly introductory information and getting to know characters and backstory. I just hope something actually happens in the next volume...

This was so good, and annoyingly ended on such a cliffhanger. I am going to have to hunt down the next book. Set in Germany, starting off pre the end of the Berlin wall, it's about Dr Tenma, from Japan who is working at a hospital. He's going out with the director's daughter, the director is using his papers and taking the credit, so he's unknowingly playing the game and is destined to go far. But then one night a family of deserters from the east are attacked and shot. The parents die, the little girl is ok, but the little boy is shot through the head. Dr Tenma is about to go in to operate when he is told that the mayor is coming in as he has collapsed. The director wants all attention on the mayor, who had said he was going to put a lot of funding into the hospital. Tenma is told to switch cases, but the boy was first so he doesn't. It's the ruin of his career, but he thinks he has done the right thing as all human life is equal and saving lives is his priority. Although as the years pass, perhaps saving that particular boy's life wasn't such a clever idea....
