When I starting this book, I had no idea what it was about. I was pleasantly surprised. Although the plot was cliche (very much like The Face on the Milk Carton, but better) it was written with a beautiful cadence that helped me finish the novel in two days. Also something to note, there was a lot of smut. But I appreciate the fact that she included the condom tidbit during sex scenes because so many novels/movies fail to acknowledge that crucial part.
This is the second book that I've read this week that has literally brought me to tears. I had so many emotions running through me while reading this. It could be because I was able to relate to the situations that happened. Or PMS but I'm sure it's the latter. I always skipped over this book figuring it would be your typical teenage love story but it wasn't. It was nothing that I could predict it to be. I'm glad I got to experience it. I recommend that anyone who has not read to read it and trust me you will enjoy it.
My favorite quote from this book!
“I’ll probably get knocked down a few more times before this life is through with me, but I can guarantee you I’ll never stay on the ground.”
Excerpt From: Colleen, Hoover. “Hopeless.”

Lesslie? Seriously? Were two “ss” really necessary?
Would have been 5 stars, but I can’t for the life of me understand why an author felt the need to get creative with the spelling of the name Leslie.

It was good but so many things happening and so many plot twists it was almost too much
3.5 I'm just not sure what to think about this book. To start, it needs a big trigger warning for SA. The beginning of the book was just kind of YA juvenile about teenage romance and i was getting bored. Then it had a huge plot twist that got me on board. After this point, my only complaint is that the characters had very unrealistic perfect, heartfelt things to say and I found myself finding it very romantic but a bit much.
It was good. The plot had a lot of twists, which I liked. But, I don't think it was that well developed.
Wow.
At first I didn't understand all of the "wow" reviews. And after reading the book halfway through I was still puzzled. The book seemed very Twilight-esque by that point, but I knew something big was coming.
Soon after the halfway point, the climax hits and it's unbelievable. That is where the "wow" factor comes in. The plot takes you in a direction that is completely engaging. I couldn't put the book down and read it all the way through.
This was most definitely a good read. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story with emotional twists and turns.
Note that the author put out a bonus chapter from Dean's point of view. I can't wait to read it!
Plot: refreshingly different
Characters: likeable
Typos: not noticeable
Love scenes: low key
Reality factor: it could happen
Worth the price? $1.99 - yes
Would I read it again? Yes, maybe once
Life changer? No, but it does make you think

I am ashamed to admit that this is my first Colleen Hoover book. I’ve seen her books around and they’re on my TBR list but with all the other books out, they keep getting pushed further down the list (I’ll have to remedy that…and soon).
With that said, I loved this book. I wasn’t sure what to expect. The description doesn’t do it justice because I wasn’t completely sold on it. But, it sounded decent…another book for the TBR list. Then Jenn read it. She started telling me about the book and about Holder. She started sending me little quotes and before I knew it, I was hooked on Holder…without having read the book. I vowed to myself that I would go home and immediately download it to my kindle and start reading. But alas, that didn’t happen. Other books popped up and again pushed this book back down. It looked like its chances of being read were hopeless (sorry for the pun). Well, after finishing a couple of books, a friend mentioned that she was thinking of starting this book. I asked her if she wanted to do a buddy read and my path was set. I was finally reading Hopeless.
Now, things didn’t start off too well. When I first started the book, I fell asleep before finishing the first page. I was worried. I didn’t have much hope that I would enjoy it. But, I quickly found out it was more exhaustion than the book. Once I restarted it, I was hooked. I couldn’t/didn’t want to put it down. I was now cursing the fact that I suggested a buddy read. Thankfully, my buddy was also hooked.
I loved Sky. She was so real. She actually reminded me of me. While I have technology, I’m woefully out of date when it comes to cell phones. Mine is only good for phone calls and texts. Nothing fancy here. And her idea of a good time…baking and reading…I definitely can relate to that. I loved Sky’s relationship with her friends Six and Breckin. Both of them were great friends…and actually reminded me of some of my friends. They definitely cracked me up.
Holder.

What can I possibly say about Holder? Well, as I said…I was hooked on him before picking up the book. He is probably one of my favorite book heroes. I loved every moment of him. And the way he felt about Sky…wow. I don’t think there are enough words to adequately describe how much I enjoyed reading about him. And when I found out Holder was getting his own version of Hopeless…I was over the moon. It will definitely be a must read.
Holder and Sky’s interactions had me cracking up. They both have such a sarcastic sense of humor that you can’t help but laugh at their conversations!
There are definitely some serious elements in this book, I don’t want to ignore that. But, I’m not going to focus on it either. It’s something that shouldn’t be spoiled, something that each reader should discover for themselves. So with that said, my heart broke for all impacted. There were times I was close to tears and my stomach was in knots. I admire how the characters dealt with the situation and how they moved past it. The elements were something that slowly built over the course of the book. The author did a great job with it…hinting then confirming what I suspected. I was really impressed with her storytelling ability.
This book is definitely a book that deserves to be read in one sitting. It is a roller coaster ride from start to finish. For anyone on the fence about this book, it’s a must read. Don’t hesitate, just buy it and read. You’ll enjoy the ride.
