I don't think this is as terrible as people make it out to be, but it's by no means fantastic. It has moments of cuteness and fun in between terrible banter and cringe worthy descriptions.

There's one good sex scene, the rest is mostly cringe dialogue and trying to convince us that it's ok for teachers to fuck students (but it's actually ok bc it's Grad students and faculty...sure). Ending was rushed and just like, bad. I didn't like this book.

Cute, liked it. Plot was frustrating and very predictable, sometimes had to "sit it out " cause it was very obvious to me what was going to happen. Characters weren't super consistent imo, but still a fun read

READ. THIS. BOOK.

I ship Olive and Adam, y'all. (Olivetree - there was a poll)

If I didn't have other book obligations I'd be rereading this immediately.

I need everyone to read this. It deserves all the love an attention!!!!!!

Olive is crying in the bathroom at Stanford because she isn’t sure she will be accepted into the grad program. But unbeknownst to her, she is not in the women’s bathroom. When a man walks in and finds her crying, he helps her find purpose and encouragement even though she can’t see him through her tears.

Three years later, Olive is at Stanford trying to find another lab to let her continue her research. On a personal front, her best friend wants to date her ex-boyfriend and, not wanting her to feel bad about it, Olive tells her that she is going on a date with someone else. Only, she just went to the lab. But her friend, Anh, shows up and desperate to help her friend, kisses the first man she sees. Only- that man is Adam Carlsen, the jerk professor who is feared by grad students.

Olive and Adam embark on a mutually beneficial fake-dating arrangement. For one month only- due to end on September 29. But having a major secret with Adam endears him to her and she finds he’s not as bad as people think- in fact, he’s pretty nice… and adorable, despite his moods. And maybe something about him is… familiar to her?

The only negative I have is that a few times she switches tense from 3rd person past to 1st present to 3rd person perfect passive. It only happens a few times but it’s confusing.

Content warning - a couple scenes and language

Fresh, fun rom-com with solid messaging about consent, respect for individuality and allowing people the time and support to be who and what they want to be.
