I can't believe I waited this long to read Iron Widow! The female rage and defiance against a world meant to cage, Wu Zetian is fearsome and determined and refuses to let anyone stop her. 
The hints of the ending and how well it sets up Heavenly Tyrant, I can't wait for it to release. It will definitely be a read same day as publication for book 2. 
If you haven't picked this up yet or are only thinking about it, don't think anymore and just read! Both the book and Xiran J y Zhao are deserving of a HUGO award and so much more.

Men wants us so badly for our bodies, yet hate us so much for our minds.

I know how bad a negative review can be, so i try to be gentle because it definitely wasn't my book.

I liked Zetian's character, or at least understood her. She is a true free spirit, full of energy and revenge with which she can burn the universe. And there is my Shimin who is in my whole heart, he deserves so much, so much better. I love their relationship so much, i'm so sorry we got so little of them.

The plot was confusing for me and couldn't hold my attention seriously, the pace was a bit fast, but i liked the references to mythology.

I enjoyed the world the story took place in. The premise and intrigue but I wish there had been more of it.
Everything happens so fast and so easily (???) that it just felt...like watching a movie adaptation of a novel?
I didn't like the main character. I wanted to.

But every time she opened her mouth I cringed at her. She was not the cold genius she I thought she was. She was manipulated and easily played and only accomplished what she did because of the men around her. She never did anything herself.

If there's another book set in the same world I'll read it. It's an easy read and a decent idea for a story. I just hope we get to delve further in and read a novel instead of watching the YA movie version.
