If there is one thing I know, it's that Julia Whelan is an icon ✨️
I found this book because I'm obsessed with Julia as a narrator and was soaking up everything she's ever read out loud as if my life depends on it!
I would say this book was like 80% of the way there for me. It reads to me like someone who is still early in their writing career, and there were some plot points and story arcs that I think could have been refined to be a bit more succinct and cohesive.
I did also predict the major plot twists pretty early on, but that being said - it didn't impact my enjoyment of the story at all! I knew how things were going to end up, but I admit there were quite a few times where I didn't expect what would happen on the journey which I think is the mark of a great story teller!
I loved the main character, I thought she was so believable, funny, and endearing. I was rooting for her every step of the way. I also really loved the way her disability was approached with kindness and neutrality - it was a defining storyline for her but not the be-all and end all!
The spicy scenes were handled *very* well. The tension build-up felt believable and for me that makes it even sexier! Sure, it's a work of fiction but isn't the best fiction rooted in reality? None of it felt strained or like it was trying too hard. Maybe could have done to be like 10% spicier for my personal tastes, but I'm not at all mad about how it turned out!

my favourite narrator, narrating her own book has truly been the best. this had me smiling the whole time and so many emotions through the whole story. i don’t usually like romance but truly this has been my favourite
