Very enjoyable! I love audiobooks, and I love Julia Whelan as a narrator. This book about audiobook narrators written/narrated by her was a fun listen.
Listening to Julia narrate her own book was a delight. I LOVED this book so very much

This is a great read / listen... it is definitely a book I cannot imagine reading instead of listening to... I mean it is Julia Whelan after all and it is about audio book narrators. I was going to give it 4 stars at first ... but I was thoroughly entertained and engrossed in the story and so I donʻt think 4 stars was quite enough. Great title and I love at the end how Julia talks about finding the story. This was also a really great read on the heels of Yellowface which delves into the publishing industry.
There were elements of this book were wonderful. I listened to the audiobook version and, of course, Julia Whelan is an amazing narrator. There were some incredibly funny — laugh-out-loud funny — moments and some deeply heartfelt, meaningful ones.
BUT a lot of the writing had me editing in my head: no, you don’t need to go into that much physical description of a reaction; no, you don’t need to tell me that many details of what’s going on in his/her head and just trust that the conversation reveals it; etc; etc.

I loved everything about this (except the mischaracterization of Jersey shore accents in the very beginning—we’re definitely not of the Bada Bing New Jersians—but the A+ banter more than made up for the insult ;)
