AUDIOBOOK
I thought audiobook was the best way to experience TYFL. Mostly because of the subject matter, but also because it is narrated by the author herself (and she's fabulous).

Sawanee is an actress who now narrates audiobooks after an accident basically ruined her on-screen acting career. On a trip to Las Vegas for a book convention, she has a hot one night stand with a stranger, expecting to never see him again.

Upon returning home to L.A. she is asked to voice a dual narration romance audiobook with Brock McKnight, the romance world's leading male narrator. The benefit of taking the very lucrative job is that Sawanee will be able to pay for her beloved Grandmother's dementia facility care.

She and Brock converse via text and email and build a friendship which starts to grow into something more. Both are using pseudonyms and neither knows the other's real identity.

This is a book-within-a-book, mistaken identity romance with the added depth of soul-searching Sawanee does when she needs to re-evaluate how she sees herself and what exactly she wants from life.

There is a mildly descriptive love scene.

P.s. I loved the Author's note at the end of the book. 'Write what you know" was definitely involved here - (I was fascinated by little details like, eating green apples helps narrators' performances; or the ins and outs of how dual narration is performed), but Julia Whelan makes it very clear that the book is fiction. She must've had lots if issues with her previous book that she went to such lengths in this one.

high highs & low lows. i really loved a lot of this but i also hated a couple elements. one scene made me gag but i think that’s my own issue. this had real five star potential with a few unfortunate moments i wasn’t capable of getting over.

Silly little audiobook to make a long drive easier. This did make me respect audiobook narrators so much more though, like holy smokes.
