dark mysterious

A family of four kids and their mother where everyone dies except youngest Libby and oldest Ben. They had a farm which was going on loss and had to shut it down. Just at the last moment mother, penny hires contract killer for herself so her kids get the life insurance money. Ben has a mad kinda psychotic gf, Diondra, who he loves or so he wants to believe and she's pregnant. Now Diondra say they need to run away or else her father will kill her so they go to Ben's to get money and his stuff. Michelle, oldest sister and major meddler, overhears them and goes to tell her mom but Diondra kills her before she could in doing so wakes up other sister Debby. At the same time contract killer comes to kill penny and sees Debby so he has to kill her too. Libby sleeping with her mom so she survives. Ben gets arrested and doesn't confess anything about diondra to save their baby being born in prison and getting a toxic childhood which is ironic cos her mom is psycho so crystal ,their daughter, ends up sheltered and little bit mad herself. 24 yrs later, libby runs out of fund money so joins hand with Lyle to solve the mystery of murders in exchange of money. She first goes to see Ben in jail then finds Krissy cates, who lied that Ben molested her back in high school. Then meets her dad through which trey teepano who was with Ben and Diondra all the time and tells her about Diondra's phony name. Finally interviews Diondra and realises she killed Michelle through a slipup by Crystal and runs away. At the same time contract killer is found whose evidence shows he killed penny and Debby. Diondra is caught but hasn't confessed yet but the evidence is all against her. Crystal not caught yet. Ben dreams of living with libby or if possible crystal.

I did predict Ben had something to do with the murders but the truth was more bad. I expected the things go down a bit more darker way. Still the book kept me up and I'm glad I read it.

The end was a bit dissapointing.. And I did not really like the characters. Most characters were basically flat, stereotyped characters. I guess the book kept me interested enough to keep reading but regarding the dissapointing ending, the depressing atmosphere of the book, and the odd characters I would not really recommend this book.
