“Because you’re everything.
You’re the sun, you’re the moon, you’re the stupid snowman in someone’s front yard with the stupid crooked carrot smile.
You’re every good day and every crappy night and every in-between mundane afternoon.
So, I’m sorry, you can’t choose to leave me. It’s not an option.
Do whatever you have to do to get past this. Be pissed at me.
Ghost me for a day or two. Cuss me out, and shove me around, but don’t leave me, Holly, please. Because if there is no you, then there is nothing.”
-Kai Kane, from The Holly Dates by Brittainy C. Cherry

“nun, was soll ich sagen. du bringst mich dazu, an märchen zu glauben.”

wenn deine wärme meine kälte besiegt hat mir wirklich sehr gefallen! ich bin nur so durch das buch geflogen; gleichzeitig fühlte es sich doch etwas an, als würde sich die geschichte sehr ziehen. auch hätte ich mir persönlich gewünscht, dass der fake dating aspekt ausgeprägter gewesen wäre. alles in allem fand ich es aber einen süßen roman mit interessanten side plots!

I really, really enjoyed this book.

Kai and Holly deserve the world but most importantly, they truly deserved one another. The banter was amazing, their chemistry was through the roof and I rooted for them practically from the beginning. Also, the twist with MJ? Did NOT see that coming.

The scene of Kai washing and styling Holly's hair for bed will be imprinted in my mind forever. As well as him kicking one of Holly's dates out of his restaurant for fetishising her. This was even before Holly had a chance to react. He was having NONE of that shit. He was an ally through and through.

The side characters were amazing. Holly's family was amazing. Curtis and Ayumi were great. A very special shoutout to Mano who is the best fictional brother ever. He also deserves the world. I cannot imagine this book without him even though he was in very few scenes.

I've taken away a star because I felt that there was very predictable drama towards the end that was quite unnecessary. It felt like added drama for the sake of added drama which I am starting to find off-putting in romance books. Holly did get on my nerves and I didn't really connect to her desperation/insecurity. She did annoy me but at the same time I really wanted to empathise with her because what she went through was truly horrible and I don't know how I would have been in her position.

Everything it needs to be as a 'Christmas Novel'

Such a good read! Fluffy and a bit of rough in spots. Delt with real life situations and still had enough good love. Such a good read!
