The Toymaker's Son is a dark fairytale romance that reads like an abstract dream, where nothing makes sense and everything feels a bit topsy turvy.
I'm not really sure how to describe this story any other way without giving too many spoilers. It's more plot based than character based, although the characters are vivid and intriguing. There's romance but it's definitely dark and perplexing.
I really enjoyed this reading journey, it's not often I'm surprised by a story in the romance genre anymore and this one was definitely not what I expected.
You'll love this if you like dark fairytales, have read Ariana Nash books before, if you read and enjoyed Dreams by Kate Hawthorne, or you just want a different reading experience and don't mind a bit of darkness thrown in.
There are also a lot of content warnings, so please read these (immediately following the blurb) and take them seriously, they are all present and graphic.
I received a copy of this book from the author and have chosen to leave an honest review.
