*Thanks to Ben Alderson for giving me an ARC for me to review*

A Kingdom of Liesstarts right whereA Betrayal of Stormsended, and oh boy, what a f*cking whirlwind this book was.

Ben has a style of writing that makes it so easy for me to sit down and read 100+ pages in one go without realizing it. It’s so easy to get lost in his worlds, andA Kingdom of Liesdid exactly that.

A Kingdom of Lies, likeA Betrayal of Storms, has sex scenes, and god damn, so good. I love when authors don’t use stupid metaphors to describe genitalia, and Ben never uses those metaphors.

A Kingdom of Lieskept me on the edge of my seat for the whole book. Robin’s development through the book itself was amazing.

The plot twists in this too are all over the god damn place. I love that. It kept me guessing what would happen next, and Ben got a few of my reactions first hand. Let’s just say I was a tad bit crazy while reading the last 100 pages.

Once I finished and read the absolute fucking CLIFFHANGER, I gave Ben the nickname of ‘King of Cliffhangers’, because god damn, I need book 3 immediately. If he doesn’t fulfil his promise of book 3 eventually, I’m gonna scream.

I was so excited for this ever since I finished the first book and honestly I was surprised by how much better I liked the sequel over the first book!
The plot in this felt a lot fresher than in the first book and honestly so did the characters. The author managed to deepen a lot of the characters that fell flat in the first book (which to be honest were a lot) and added a lot of depth to them.
Reading this was so much more exhilarating in a way that made me unable to put the book down.
I kept wanting to know more about the characters and their sides that we did not get to see in the first book and each new page felt like I was given another side (plus Robin‘s girlboss era slay)
Was this a perfect five star book in an objective sense? Probably not. But the experience of reading it and the feelings I had while reading it (and after finishing it omg ending was so fucking rude) is definitely worth five stars to me. Especially considering how much of a fresh wind and upgrade this was from the first book.
I really cannot wait for the third book and I will violently riot for more Erix content.

NO CAUSE THE WAY THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD!!

The first book was good but this one? Amazing. Phenomenal.

Im obsessed with these characters and the journeys they’ve been going on!

I love Robin so much. There is something so real about him!

I missed Althea SO MUCH! Her absence was felt hardcore y’all! I needed her humor and her sass and her badassery!!

Listen here Ben…the way you have my heart being pulled in two different directions! How dare you make me fall for Duncan!! Robin and him fit together in such an amazing way and watching them fall for each other is such a gift. I’m nervous and excited and terrified to see the way their relationship continues to develop in the next book!

ERIX

An exciting and surprising sequel!

-Big thanks to the author for the eARC-

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE PREVIOUS BOOK IN THE NEXT PARAGRAPH
Despite all the betrayals and dangers that befell him, Robin has become King. Enemies are waiting for him on all sides, and he doesn't know who to trust. When some of them threaten his last remaining family, his father, he will do anything to save him. But he might not be powerful enough to go up against literal Gods... And deals with the devil will have to be made.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I was breathless after finishing the first book of this series, and somehow, this one topped it! It was exquisite to read, not a minute to stop and breathe. The action was brutal and enthralling from the start and I couldn't put it down. This world is truly full of secrets and magic that I never would have suspected and it was a pleasure to be surprised by just how deep everything goes. Robin was true to himself, strong and determined, and I loved his character growth in this one. The romance was...I can't say much, but it was an emotional roller-coaster to say the least. Ben messed with my feelings with the plot-twists and I was panting and gasping! The writing was addictive and pleasant to read, pulling us into the story easily. Beautiful descriptions of both sights and feelings had me hooked. The spice was on-point, as usual, and very exciting. I was scared and surprised and thrilled throughout the book, and the characters were very relatable and full of secrets and surprises. I am shook by all that has happened, I would never have seen it coming and I simply cannot wait to read the third book that I need ASAP!

I highly recommend if you like fantasy and spicy, gay romance!

"Why would I fear the dark when what is revealed in the light is far more frightening?"

The way I was shipping Robin and Duncan from the very start, their chemistry puts Erix to shame. Also, F Erix, you will be missed. Probably.

I didn’t like the first book that much, but I decided to give this one a chance and I’m so glad I did!! This book was so much better than the first one! I was really involved to the story and this book surprised me many times!
