Sure, it isn't as if this was SO badly written to deserve such a rating. However I found the story completely boring, and I particularly hated how the "potential romance" part was dealt.
Oh, and having a character behaving out of character was really weird
so, Nick who at the beginning has just had a threesome, but then towards the end we're supposed to "buy" that he's becoming tired of his womanising ways, and I'm not even going to talk about the "oh, we shouldn't have sex... okay, but we should totally go down on one another." -_-

Also, I really don't understand how werewolf's would hire a group of mercenaries to help them find Malcolm. And that Elena or Clay would let Nick get involved with that subject.
In the end I really could have passed without having read this.

I really enjoyed this one. The series never really focused on Nick that much and this story Nick is allowed to shine. He is tracking Malcolm for Clay and Elena and catches up with him in Detroit. There is more to it than that but since this is a novella I don't want to give much away but I hope that even if the main series of Otherworld is done I hope she keeps up with the novellas and gives time to the secondary characters in this universe.
