For the most part, I listened to the audio of this book. I found the information on the brain to be really fascinating, and I definitely think about a lot of the things he discusses, whether it's food or exercise. Reading this happened to coincide with a thorough physical and having to start medications for the first time in my life, so it really hit home! I appreciated the part about dementia at the end, but was surprised that it took up so much of the book. I found the beginning so interesting that I even bought a copy for a friend.

This was a great audiobook read by Sanjay himself. I went into this not knowing much about him or what he stands for, but I’m walking away with a lot of respect for him and his medical opinions. Some of the content may be simple or well-known already by his readers. I do feel like I have a better understanding of brain health and the things I can do proactively now to protect myself in the future.

Things you already knew before reading this book:
You should eat better;
You should sleep better;
You should exercise, and;
You should be less stressed

Things you might not have known before reading this book:
The author is a brain surgeon, but don't worry it's not exactly rocket science. But in case you don't think that's impressive enough, he also hangs out with cool people like the Dalai Lama, Oprah, and Bill Gates. He mentions that occasionally.

The book wasn't exactly revolutionary. A quick visit to google or wikipedia could tell you most of the health advice the book contained. It wasn't quite as patronizing as some other health books, but it wasn't exactly satisfying either.

Also for audiobook readers - it's narrated in a fairly annoying fashion. So that every, single sentence, is spoken, like a news reporter. Even the ones, when you think, it wouldn't, make sense.

神内边见习边听的,感觉很无聊。。。可能因为这本书本来就是科普向的吧,很多医学知识已经知道了,本来期待的是更多深入的知识。听完也没记住啥,就觉得很冗长

Great presentation of cognitive decline. Good balance of science, humanity, and solutions that we know of today.

This book gives hope and advice for those of us who are aging. I have listened to the audio, own the ebook, and will probably buy the physical book.

If there is anyone that you should trust about this subject matter, it's Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

This is written in a practical and understandable manner and provides clear information about potential risks and strategies for going forward.

Engaging and inspiring. Full of good, practical advice. The book actually got me looking forward to living better for my brain. The author backs up every claim with citations of specific scientific studies, articles or researchers - so you know it's not just self-help hooey.
