Well, that was a truly satisfying and rollicking read! I was swept up in the current of plain ol’ fashioned police procedural, river gods and goddesses, faes and magicians. Ben Aaronovitch’s series featuring Peter Grant and his boss, Nightingale, has grabbed my interest and I can now say I’m an Urban Fantasy fan not just a Mystery fan. If you haven’t dipped your toe in this genre, don’t hesitate, jump in!

Kobna Holdbrook Smith is an amazing narrator, and the end of this book just floored me. Can't wait until the next one comes out.

Really a great story. Peter is becoming formidable, though maybe he is the last to know.

I've reached the limit of my binge, as determined by the library loan system, but in this one the simmering battle with the Faceless Man escalates after the drug-related death of a young woman involves the daughter of one of the Rivers, to whom Peter owes a big favour, said favour being called in to keep said daughter out of it. Peter being very much a lateral operator, nonethelss does his best, but there's a whole can of worms and murders let loose involving stolen magical books and artefacts and teams of US intelligence contractors running around and getting in the way.

I got a bit phased as it refers back to previous books quite a lot and I couldn't remember the details, also all the acronyms.
But an enjoyable fun read. Faceless man and Lesley get  to carry on taunting The Folly and Peter.
