OK I had the WEIRDEST sense of deja vu while reading this-- when I saw what it was about, it seemed familiar, and upon reading it, I realized that I think I've read it before? I'm not sure when or how but I'm guessing since it's so short, it might've been posted on reddit or on one of those random listicle sites that pop up on facebook constantly?? IDK for sure, but definitely super creepy and disturbing. Not rating this or adding it to my 2020 rankings bc it's so short

A perfect example of how short stories can be so good. Mysterious ,creepy unique and left me wanting to know more but knowing no more was needed to be known.
All of that not even talking about the hauntingly captivating art of Junji Ito.
This one will always be in the back of my mind.

This is as good as Junji Ito gets, easily one of his best stories. Art is a masterpiece as per usual. Where Arigama fault really shines though, is in its concept and presentation. The idea of slowly descending down a “you-shaped” hole through choice and compulsion is horrifying. It effectively plays off of claustrophobia, the human psyche, and fear of acceptance. The characters were simple yet effective, perfect for a short story such as this.

unlike gyo, which proved to be ridiculously silly to read, this one shot actually managed to up the creep-factor and disturb my mind a little. it’s not downright horrifying, but still it was fun to read— which goes for pretty much all of ito’s works.

I want some horror that would fuck my shit up for days, and I was recommended this. I really liked it, thought it was a neat concept. I'm even a bit claustrophobic. It was pretty fucked but I don't think it'll linger in my brain long.
I do recommend it though
