BELMONT TE AMO
Tessa Bailey supremacy!!!!!!
I loved this one even more than the one before it.

Must. Protect. Woman. Ew! DNF at 80%. I just could not read another word. This is a depiction of the type of "love" that leads to murder suicide. I have a friend that liked this, and I am glad she did, but for me it was a giant no. It was filled with things I dislike:

* A hero who appears to have some sort of serious intellectual deficit that no one discusses
* Gorgeous virgins nearing 30
* The South written by someone who appears to have never been south of Secaucus
* Ridiculous moustache twirling villain
* Vile vile vile parents everywhere with children who inexplicably protect them
* Hooker with a heart of gold who saves the day and is, to paraphrase the ultimate hooker with a heart of gold played by Julia Roberts, saved right back
* Creepy obsession being called love

The one saving grace is that the writing is so bad I could not get too upset about any of it. I like a lot of later Tessa Bailey, but this is my second in this early series, my second thumbs way way down.

I dont know why I keep buying these books. While I like Hook Line and Sinker I just could not get through this one (or others in this series) without cringing. I hated myself the majority of the time I read this. Not to mention I was sooooo uncomfortable the WHOLE time.

These main characters are two of the worst written I've read this year. Completely unrealistic and disturbingly obsessed with each other. I kept thinking there would be a reprieve, a reason for me to support their relationship, and there never ever was.

I don't think I can even tell you about the plot I actually cannot believe that this was a final draft...

This plot could have worked with a similarly cliche villain but needs protagonists that actually make coherent decisions and not want to be all over each other every sentence... like do they realize what book they're in?!

I think I just need to stop being tricked by Tessa Bailey book blurbs because this is definitely not for me

I was really looking forward to this one cause Belmont is not like the other characters. It was also that we go to see the interactions with Sage in the books leading up to this so knew something big had to happen to change the relationship. Honestly I don't know how to feel. There were parts but it felt like doing the characters a disservice. There was so much smut and not a lot of plot.

Spoilers, probably?

These two protagonists have a lot of trauma and could use some a good therapist (though, of course, love cures trauma!). I was somewhat amused by the VERY unexpected and Dickensian salt mine storyline (!!!), the sympathetic sex worker storyline, and church sex.

Cringe

This bummed me out. The amount of whining and codependency and back and forth got exhausting pretty quickly.

This is the last book of the "Romancing The Clarksons" and by far the best one!
