Wild. This whole series. Wild.

The best of the 4. I think.(?) Early on I wasn't quite sure but as it evolved, it solidified. Belmont the Walking Enigma was finally solved, and Sage was given a personality and purpose beyond Books 1-3. Getting into spoiler territory, but his backstory had me fuming, and I can't believe the others will never know.

Also, the summary as it currently reads makes zero sense. They're not childhood friends.

This book series is highly entertaining in a “what on earth could possibly happen next?” Sort of way. TBTB has the most fairytale-like plot of all four books and Belmont and Sage are both unique characters. Not for everyone, not necessarily “good”, but a fun, quick read and wrapped up all the mysteries of the series.

I don't know what to say about this last book in this series. I didn't like the third book really at all because I thought the relationship was toxic and didn't really respect Peggy because of it. Belmont and Sage weirded me out throughout all of the previous books and so I didn't really know what to expect. I still don't get the way the two of them talked to each other like they weren't grown adults. But Belmont's backstory is finally really revealed in full detail and it's incredibly awful what happened to him as a kid. And Sage's backstory was sad too although I don't quite understand why she needed to go talk to the town rich guy to be able to leave in the first place. I can honestly say that the best part about this book was the ending when you finally get to the New Year's Day Polar Plunge at Coney Island. All and all this was a decent story that summed up the series nicely but was not my favorite.

I love Tessa Bailey books. But I found this one to be awful. Its such a toxic relationship and I found it frustrating that the level of codependence was called out by the characters as bad but ignored. They claim they got to a heathy place but punching the guy your girl is marrying is not healthy. Also throwing yourself into such a bad head space that you assault the woman you claim to love is insane and not showing of a healthy relationship.
