I think reading the whole series in order is important. I skipped to this one because I didn't have the other ones from the library and it seemed very 1950s antiquated ideas ... But I think in the context of the whole series, it would have made more sense. I have to admit, while the characters were over the top, I really liked them and I love Tessa's books so I'll look for the rest of the series. Didn't love this like her other books.

Skipped around a bit- seems like it's going to be a lot of torturing a claustrophobic guy in a Louisiana salt mine for no reason and I just can't go there (on top of a lingering parentage reveal, the well story, Sage's extremely sad background

alcoholic, negligent parents, childhood sexual harassment

, and a Boss Hogg style villian.)

It's a tragedy hat-on-a-hat-on-a-hat. Hard to see things getting sexy or heartwarming.  Fucking BLEAK.

Poor Belmount. Damn dude.
