I loved the beginning of the first book and the ending of this one. All the in between stuff wasn't quite there for me.

I'm not even going to dignify this with a proper review. If you read The Hazel Wood, just stop there. The first book was excellent it's novelty and jaded anti authoritarian storyline. This continuation is just a pathetic carrying on of the author's existential crisis of faith.

I didn't even enjoy the first book, I don't know why I chose to read the sequel.

Absolutely tore it up!

Since I had just finished The Hazel Wood, and the second book in the series was available from the library, I decided I might as well continue the dark fairytale adventure.  The audiobook version included the short story The Boy Who Didn't Come Home as well.
