Unbearably annoying female lead. Nothing interesting, new, or unique about the plot or characters. But laugh out loud funny at several points.
I really enjoyed the character development in this book. I also enjoyed how the main character was her own person and not a typical romance lead. There are three or four VERY steamy parts that I had to skip through, so I definitely wouldn’t recommend this book to my grandma.
This book was so good! If you are looking for a cute romance with witty banter, this book is for you!
Things I liked:
- I loved the plot!
- I love their relationship!
- The characters are unique, but somehow still relatable.

Sara Desai does it again and writes a romantic comedy ties in a little of book #1 (the marriage game) and gives hints for her next book coming out this year (the singles table)! I love reading about Indian culture/multigenerational families and how empowered these female characters are and the men who support and love the way they want to be loved.

This was cute but it was lacking something. Even for a formulaic romance there were a lot of predictable things that just felt shoved in without making me feel more invested. The part that drive me craziest was that they kept telling everyone that they were fake engaged and kept talking about it everywhere, even though that being common knowledge would have meant that the inheritance didn’t go through. The aunties were mostly cute and funny and I did love the closeness of the family. Either way, it was a quick and fun read but not one where I’m dying to discover more of her work. Adding after reading other reviews: it was partially the “maybe she’s an autistic software engineer” that was lacking! That was cringey in a way I couldn’t put my finger on until I thought more about it. And the Avengers/Marvel thing... she was a one dimensional caricature of a Helen Hoang character.

General thoughts: fun! I loved the tension between Daisy and Liam. I also liked that wegot to know Daisy better in this book and flush hercharavter out more. Also loved that it was kinda a second chance romance!
