I'm afraid this book missed the mark in many ways. It was boring and really predictable. The writing style was what I'd expect for children aged 7-10, not teens. The whole idea of sending 3 teens with just a few months training to the moon is not believable in any form - the sort of plot you'd give to 5-8 year-olds. There was far too much irrelevant backstory about the teens. The "horror" fell flat.
I probably should have known from the blurb, but I hoped the author might have some clever way of resolving the fundamental problem of NASA and the teens. Oh well.

3.5 out of 5 stars
i really enjoyed this story and a lot of the aspects of it. as i neared the ending, i was prepared to leave it as a simple 3 stars, it was enjoyable and exciting but nothing that really stood out– until i reached the end. i feel as though the characters could have been better development or just written– antoine and midori especially. they felt flat and just not as important as mia, even from the start. however, the ending, it was something that never crossed my mind and yet when it happened, it made sense. i was caught off guard no doubt and definitely added a .5 to the rating.

I read this book forever ago and have not forgotten it. I've never been so spooked and enthralled by a book. Literally couldn't stop raving about it after reading this in 7th grade. Thinking I'll do a good reread sometime soon to see what I pick up on differently now about a decade later.
Welp, that was not fun. I almost DNFed this a few times but decided to hang in there. I should have DNFed it. The writing or translation was just horrible. It was so bland...everything was so bland. There were moments where I thought it was going to get better but then it just didn't. The ending was very predictable and I wouldn't have cared if it was more interesting but sadly...it wasn't. Ugh, this one might be my most disappointing read this year.
