I just couldn’t keep pushing through the complex and continually growing world and magic. It felt like all of my energy as a reader was going to reading complicated names and trying to follow what was happening and none of my energy was able to go towards actually enjoying the story.

I really liked the story development and the deeper character insights this book gave, but there were so many POVs from minor characters that weren't needed and could have been utilised better. A good quarter of this felt like it treated the Xishlon festival and I understand that this was used to make the end even more devastating, but it dragged on for too long. Nevertheless I am excited to find out how this series will end and who will survive the war against Vogel.

Honestly, I don’t even know how to process right now. The Black Witch Chronicles is one of my favorite series but the ending of the The Demon Ride tore my heart to pieces

Character development throughout the series has lead to this. I’m sure others were not pleased by the amount of romance in this book but each romance served a purpose to propel the story forward and gave us enough information about each character to justify their roles/actions in the war. This could have been a very dark story with the loss/ fighting through trauma, but the addition of other characters POV and love forged in hard times it was so enjoyable.
