Actually finished this ages ago oops!!

I feel like if I was reading this while high it would have been unbelievable. However I’m sorry to say that I hated Griffin (he’s useless!) and just didn’t find the plot consistent enough. What was the need for a quickie after every fight scene? Made the plot feel so monotonous and predictable. There was literally no sexual tension at all for a romance novel. There were also so many plot points introduced that went absolutely nowhere? Why tf did they put sm effort into going after Ipotane? And what was the point of the Games? I do not understand, sorry.

This books redeeming quality is that Amanda Bouchet is amazing at writing action scenes. The conflicts were so well written and are the only reason I am not rating this book 1/5.

Reread 1/21/20: ugh, I never know if I should take down stars upon rereading books and not liking them as much. I would give this at max a 4/5 now, but I remember reading this for the first time and feeing so overwhelmingly in love with the characters and the writing. Don’t get me wrong; Cat’s annoying, this book series takes deus ex machina to the literal next level and it’s SO annoying sometimes- but there’s something that keeps me hooked. I guess I’ll leave it at five then.

Meh. Without her being a total cow, now she's got no personality. Ohhhhhhhh and how about that ending where they announce what literally every woman reading this already knew in the first two chapters?
This book is like an epic parade of gods and monsters. Hey, they beat this monster after seriously 50 pages of description on the fighting. Next chapter, another monster to kill! Repeat at least 10 times.

I love Cat, Griffen, and all of Beta Team. I love that this book had more fantasy world-building and battle scenes, it was a great complement to the romance of the first book.

Would give this book 5 stars but someone had to make a character pregnant halfway through the series 🙃
