I was actually disappointed with this one.
This is my third Barclay book, the previous two were solid 5 stars ("Find You First" and "A Noise Downstairs") and found this one a bit of a letdown. The pacing is slower than the two previous books, and didn't really take to it until 60% or so in. This is more small-scale, domestic-y (think a Lisa Lippmann or B.A. Paris sort) than the darker tone, I had been expecting from Barclay. The story is good, but I saw it coming since there weren't as many twists and the tensions were mid.
Nevertheless, I will continue subbing and smashing the like button of Barclay's future books.

Thank you William Morrow for my review copy.
What I Liked:
Short Chapters.
Questionable Characters.
Steady pacing.
Issues:
Some of the twists were predictable, but one did catch me by surprise.

Intriguing mystery with a number of good twists, also some pretty far-fetched events. Engaging. Kept me reading.

Not my favourite. Too many characters with each having their own “twist.” Was way too long winded with some parts, so unnecessary to the actual plot.

Fast paced book, which did keep me guessing throughout. I really struggled to keep up with the sheer number of characters in the story! The ending did fall a little flat after all of the build up throughout the book
Graphic: Injury/Injury detail and Death
Minor: Pandemic/Epidemic and Death of parent

Another cracking crime novel from the master of crime fiction. I loved the characters and couldn't put it down. It's a rip-roaring read and a real page-turner. That said, I though the ending could have been more positive but apart from that it's brilliant!
