Slowburn and odd tale of a town filled with just tweens and teens doing their own thing - they go to school but there are no teachers, parents are not part of the picture, and people just die and no one seems to care. Leading up to a weird ending, this one left me intrigued, yet confused.
Saw some mention of a sequel, so I may pick it up whenever it comes out just to see if it starts to make more sense.

I didn't see the end coming. It was kind of all over the place and really weird.

Unsatisfying plot and so-so artwork. One could make a case that not being able to distinguish genders (some of the names and art) fits with the story, but I found it confusing and unnecessary. The careful exploration and consequences of friends becoming something more was interesting. The reveal at the end felt like it come out of the blue without enough breadcrumbs along the way. Overall 2.5 out 5

I wanted more from that ending. and a little bit more overall from the plot, which a few more chapters could have accomplished. I was fully invested and it held my interest, but I was left feeling like there were big chunks missing from the middle and end. I loved the art and the little shout-outs to my home of richmond.

This was so interesting! The end was a plot twist I didn't see coming! The concept was pretty neat and I liked that it was a standalone book. The characters were odd but I liked them.
Moderate: Sexual content
Minor: Pedophilia

Ben Schiller is finding it difficult to maintain a sense of normalcy. Her best friend is slowly but surely becoming her boyfriend. Her sister Empathy keeps sneaking out of the house for reasons unknown. Oh, and everyone's parents are missing. The teens of Alexandria are still going through the motions of maintaining some semblance of civilized society as only teens can. Which is to say that they're still going to school during the day and thrashing to the punk stylings of The Crotchmen by night (and clearly finding time in between to crudely spray paint genitalia and swear words on nearly every flat surface throughout town). *to be continued*
