Een bundel korte horrorverhalen waar ik me meer mee heb vermaakt dan ik had verwacht. De verhalen verschillen allemaal ontzettend van elkaar, dus het verveelt zeker niet. Enkele verhalen voelden aan als afleveringen van Black Mirror (maar dan met meer horror en in boekvorm, haha). Oh, en van het eerste verhaal heb ik slecht geslapen. Een aanrader als je van horror en een beetje gekkigheid houdt!

i love love love weird little short story collections with a vague horror-vibe.

i think there’s a good chance that this is because of the translation, but sometimes the writing felt a little flat.

my favourite story was by FAR the titular “cursed bunny”, but i also really enjoyed snare and scars!

some other stories i wasn’t that into, i think my least favourite is probably home sweet home.

overall it was a very fun little read though, if this is the kinda vibe you are into i’d definitely recommend it!

The first two stories weren’t great, but they got better throughout the book. They weren’t something that kept me engaged enough to keep reading so I took a lot of breaks and didn’t read more than one or two stories a day. I’d be willing to give the author another chance, but won’t be actively seeking her out.

Bora Chung is a genius. It took me months to read this because after each story, I just wanted to sit with it and absorb it before reading the next one. 

Sometimes translated writing feels stiff or flat, but Anton Hur did a beautiful job capturing the evocative writing style throughout these stories.
