Excellent, though the ending was a little anti-climactic.

I absolutely loved this steamy romance between an unlikely pair of introverts who just sizzle together. I have a thing for slightly off-beat alphas and this definitely fit the bill.

I enjoyed this one more than most. It’s my last one though in the series. Looking ahead, the plots don’t captivate me. Maybe I will return later.

Got 1 over left but couldn't be bothered continuing on with the book. Didn't like the romance in this at all.

This one started out pretty good and had me really curious about some things. But at some point it sort of just flattened out. Then it started to get good again only to have an extremely abrupt ending. It was almost like the author decided she didn't want to write this book anymore, so we have an exciting chapter end followed by a time skip and a cliff notes version of what went down. It was jarring and annoying. As for the characters, I could go either way with them. I did like the fact that Kain still killed people even when Raina asked him not to. I just love the brutal efficiency of the First Division. The relationship between Kain and Raina wasn't quite as good or believable as some of the others either. I can see how Raina went from being totally afraid of Kain to falling for him, he did repeatedly save her life. But Kain falling for Raina? Not so much. She started out as a mission for him and he had zero interest in humans. But then after one of the times he saved her, he watches her sleep for three days and all of a sudden decides to claim her. It made no sense at that point because the two of them still barely even knew each other.

Back on Earth, Raina is in trouble. She didn't manage to serve enough time on Fortuna Tau so she's back in a bad way with the law. On top of that someone is trying to kill her. I'll admit, I was very curious as to why. She just wants to move of with things and get on with her life Kordolian free, but Arin needs her help to find proof of the coverup on Fortuna Tau. Raina really doesn't want to do it. Especially when she finds out Arin wants to pair her with a Kordolian warrior.

Kain is a little different from his brothers. He has special markings that show of a past he can't really remember but that mark him as a sort of justice enforcer. He knows when people are lying and gets feelings that always lead him in the right direction. He doesn't want to be put on a mission to protect a human woman but has little choice in the matter. Not only has Tarak commanded it of him but he's determined to get revenge on those who would dare try and kill him and his brothers.

So together Kain and Raina travel the undergrounds trying to find the information they need without getting caught....again. Raina's brother is an interesting character that also seems a little shady. I liked him in the story. They have to run from a lot of bad guys and Kain has to kill a lot, but that is what a warrior does best. Finally they manage to find what they're looking for and it's time for Kain to get that revenge. And he's so close when things go sideways. I was incredibly frustrated with that whole thing. At least we find out why they wanted Raina dead...even if it wasn't that compelling.

Moving on to book 2 now and at least with the prince I know I'll get more Tarak. I need more Tarak.

This was like an in between story. It happens simultaneously with the other books and delves a bit deeper into the corrupt politics of Earth. She has information, but it isn't like she is the only one that has this information. If her friend hadn't insisted on her coming on the "mission" that seemed to go no where in the end, she would not have been with the Kordolians and she would've been dead. So it was a little convenient and without and real direction forward. The last book saw the Kordolian Empire crash to the ground. This one didn't do that at all and it was just another baby step in showing the over bearing and idiotic government that the Kordolians could take over at any time. I liked the main couple and that is what saves this as it is a romance. So 3 stars. A bit boring compared to the others.

I feel like this couple suites each other well. There was more plot compared to the other books. Wasn’t mind blowing, but consistent with the previous books in the series.

If you are considering reading this to keep with the series plot, and not for the romance, I would say this is skippable.
