The moment I finished Book 1, I knew I had to continue.

[b:Fresh Ice|62205732|Fresh Ice (Alpha Omega Hockey, #1)|Marina Vivancos|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1661965631l/62205732._SY75_.jpg|97999510] ended very abruptly, right to the story of Orion Young, the first player of the league to have ever been outed as an Omega. His team is behind him, but many in the NHL are not happy about him breaching into Alpha territory. My King does not care!

Orion is doing as well as he can. He is not at all still thinking of his ex, Gabriel McKenna, captain to the rival team and the only man Orion's ever loved. Nope. Not even when he starts adopting all the baby omegas scattered in the league, including Alonso, one of Gabby's rookies.

Orion and Gabby used to date in their rookie year, where everything was perfect and easy... until Orion's suppressants failed him and he had to choose between hockey and his boyfriend, as Gabby's Alphaness was messing up with his meds and endangering his career. At the time, he panics and breaks things off with Gabby. Their relationship turns to ice and bitter rivalry and it lasts for a decade... until Orion's forced outing as an Omega and his helping Alonso brings them closer again. They fall into bed once, twice... and they both know they can't get that hurt again. So what if they just... went for it?

I love second chances, especially when it comes to this rival players dynamics. Orion was just doing his best, I felt so much for him. He was just trying to survive a world that was OUT for him and that didn't want him here, but once he was allowed to be who he was without hiding, he embraced it. He did so much to help the people around him. At first Gabby is cold AF (man got his heart shredded, but yeah) but he was always standing up for Orion even when he was angry at him. But this man is so soft. Literally just missed his boyfriend. They were so cute. I'm so sad this series is so cute. The smut gets filthy but it's not called guilty pleasure for nothing!

Also the whole "I'm a straight omega, I like Alpha!" thing had me to tears, this is so GOOFY

The story is told exclusively from Orion's POv and I gotta say I would have appreciated a bit of Gabby's POV especially when it came to their past relationship.

Orion was a conundrum of a character for me to like. While not enthused to take the mantle for Omega rights in the NHL, still he did it whenever the double standards and the prejudice was just too on the nose and he could do/say something about it. He was caring towards Alonso and thoughtful towards other Omegas that asked for his advice or shared their secret of their dynamic with him.

On the other hand he was so quick to jump to conclusions towards Gabby and how "quickly" he seemed to recover from their first breakup and then make it Gabby's fault for his hurt feelings.

When it comes to Gabby, we got to know him through Orion's eyes and as much as Orion was quick to dismiss or overlook Gabby's actions and responses, it was clear how sweet and what a softie he really was.

Loved all the Hockey bits and they worked really well here. Marina's ABO dynamics are always done right and I can't wait for the new book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
