i think this was a good book it just unfortunately didn’t go the way i wanted it too and i felt 1/3 of the book was unnecessary. i just wanted MORE but i still enjoyed!

I loved it for the first 2/3 parts - it had the slice of life Murakami vibe without the disgusting sexism. Then i got confused by the last part suddenly veering off into magical realism to reveal the big secret - it was a bit too deux ex machina in the context of the story. It's still a good read, but could have been more 🥲

The story could use some work much like Watersong, but I’m in love with the author’s smooth/fluid writing style. Her words flow together perfectly to create a realistically beautiful landscape.
