i really enjoyed this story collection. some were 4 stars, some were 3 and 2. overall it was solid, though. i thought the self aware expansion of paul tremblays other works through these stories was really fun, and kept me engaged. i also liked the way that he took inspiration from other texts like “into the wild” with a spooky twist. the more i read from paul tremblay the more i enjoy his work!

I can not say enough wonderful, glowing, soaring things about this author's long work. I've consistently been floored by this author's novels.
Sadly, the short stories did nada for me. Which is so weird, cuz they sometimes deal with themes and characters from the author's novels.
Perhaps disliking these stories says more about me and nothing about the stories themselves.

2½ stars.
Maybe I expected too much; I expected more balls to the walls horror as in some of his novels, but it was mostly a lot of interesting ideas with VERY ambiguous endings. I didn't really get a lot of the endings - or, as a matter of fact, a lot of what the stories wanted to say.
There was only one or two stories I really liked.

I don't have the energy to be mad at how horribly BORING this collection is. I don't even care that I'm dropping it, either. Yes, it's disappointing because I was looking forward to it, but I just don't care anymore. I've been burned by so many hyped books this year that I'm no longer fazed.
For those who need a more specific critique, each story (that I read) was either boring, made little to no sense, or was boring and made little to no sense. There you go. Skip this collection, there's way better out there.

All things must come to an end, except for Paul Tremblay’s stories apparently.
