It was so sweet 🥹 and the right amount of of spice
omg you guys it happened… i genuinely liked a tessa bailey book.
piper was really likable for me. i love a chaotic girly who’s a little (or sometimes a lot) dumb. and brendan… one of the least alpha male characters i have read from her, which itself is great, but he’s protective in a loving genuine way instead of a gross way. we love to see it. i liked their balance of making fun of each other and authentically caring for each other.
the amount of weird ocean/fishing puns was horrible but kinda great. i think she made the same joke about getting crabs twice but i am letting it slide.
i LOVED this setting. i am a pnw lover so i am biased but the small fishing town of it all was so good. and the side characters were awesome - hannah, opal, and abe were all great additions. mick was kinda an asshole but in a necessary (understandable) way, and same with daniel (not as understandable). the crew were also done well, although i would’ve liked to see more of fox. i felt like i didn’t really know him well, especially compared to hannah, which is weird since the next book is about them.
anyways, here are my random thoughts from during listening:
-WHEN HE TAKES ONE LAST LOOK AT HER TO MEMORIZE HER BEFORE HE GOES OFF TO SEA???? NOW WHAT THE FUCK
-why people in books always hip bumping? who actually does that?
-finally a sex scene i found kinda hot! tessa bailey is 100% into pegging but she is either too scared to admit it or someone is censoring her LET HER SPEAK!!
-i hate the recharging station sm wtf is that
some follow ups on that, i seriously hate “the recharging station” so much. it was so cringey, i really could not get past it.
the spice in this was leaps and bounds better than her past books. i definitely still found some of it a little cringey, but nowhere near as bad, some of it was honestly pretty
