I get that Wallander is a simpathetic and depressing character, and that darkness is part of the draw. Sometimes though you feel so much for him that you want to give in for him. Mankell has created this sparse and decrepit universe that you expect everyday to be barren and bleak. Even when Wallander is on vacation or at least not in the office, things are bleak.
This series of murders is interesting in that it has the background of cleaning up after his father has died, and Wallander is trying to prevent his relationship with his daughter to flounder as bad as the one he had with his father. Very complex tradeoffs are described and interpreted.

Me gustó el libro pero siento que va a envejecer mal. Dicho eso: ay le sufrí mucho con las muertes de acá.
These really get bette the further into the series you get! Great, complex killer in this one, great building on the main character's arcs. This is an example as to why Wallander -and Henning Mankell, of course- are so well loved.

Phần đầu và phần giữa ok, nhưng phần kết lúc Wallander solo 1-1 rồi bắt được Louise thì hơi cụt một tí (dù tôi cũng chẳng nghĩ ra cái kết nào phù hợp hơn)
Sách đặt vấn đề là những người có tuổi thơ bất hạnh, bị ngược đãi sau đó ra đời lại bị xã hội ruồng bỏ, bề ngoài thì không thấy gì nhưng bên trong là một hố đen như thế nào :)) Khá thích câu ở cuối sách, đại ý là sự sụp đổ bên trong của một cá nhân thể hiện sự mục ruỗng của cộng đồng bên ngoài, bao quanh anh ta

Es muy difícil ser objetiva con una colección que me gusta tanto. Sin embargo, es el mejor libro de la serie Wallander que leí hasta ahora.
La narración es espectacular; el desarrollo de los personajes es, como siempre, una maravilla. La historia personal del detective siempre toca al lector (o, por lo menos, a esta lectora): Wallander es el policía más humano de la ficción.
Todavía no sé que voy a hacer con el vacío que voy a sentir cuando llegue al último libro. Mientras tanto, disfrutaré de las páginas que me quedan.
