A very interesting book. I particularly enjoyed reading about Miriam's path to disillusion with the system and society. I like how the doubt was spurned by her just wondering about some very simple questions (like who is going to look after the babies when they start being born again and won't there just be a massive socieconomical gap in society when that does happen?) I think that this help to show the depth of the propaganda and how deeply it was affecting people.

Really interesting examination of the human desire to bear children. I think it can be interpreted differently depending on the reader. I personally found the portrayal of the future terrifying, definitely an alternate reality I could envisage happening.

Wish this was longer. I don’t want kids. It was interesting to see the view of children in this book. Obviously, they went too far the restrictions of children but it was entertaining to read about having child-free housing and the line about willful disability.
Overall interesting story. I would have loved to read about life after pregnancy.

This is a story with a very interesting concept - overpopulation means that there are such incentives against having children that it is a privilege that only the most rich and famous can afford. I loved the worldbuilding aspect of the story, where the futuristic inventions such as headpieces that are meant to make life easier are actually thinly veiled surveillance techniques, and I thought that the framing of pregnancy as a negative health condition or a side effect of removing one’s birth control was especially ingenious as a demonstration of successful propaganda. However, I think I would have enjoyed the story a bit more if I related to the main characters’ desire to have children, as I felt that a lot of the pathos was lost on me.
