I wanted to learn about the original "New Deal". This was a fantastic introduction to the great successes, compromises and spectacular failures during the period. Most of all this book left me with more questions regarding the main players of the period, including but not limited to: the major unions (AFL, CIO, USW), FDR, Henry Wallace, Eleanor, Wilkie, Louis Howe, Hitler, Churchill, Truman etc.
