I appreciate that again, going through therapy is mentioned, but…
I don’t think Colin has had enough of it still. First his responses to things verbally, pointed out by his best friend, gf and multiple people is bullshit and not endearing or quirky to me, second he completely blows up in the bar on the waitress, like damn if I was Maria I would have been like “yes arrest him gtfo” And while she ghosts him for like a week or two, when she went to have a serious conversation about it the topic was basically dropped and responded to only with “okay” by Colin. He’s an asshole. He hasn’t changed or he’d admit that he still needs work and still has anger and aggression issues. MMA shouldn’t be his only outlet and he should still be attending therapy.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been a therapist and am an LLMSW but ffs.
And then all the twists and turns in the end were more confusing and boring and less “omg that’s so crazy!”

sorry Nick try again….or don’t.

3.5 stars. The ending was good, and the story line along the way too. But kind of slow at times.

When you're reading Nicholas Sparks, you kind of know what to expect. I thought the romance was terribly written and felt incredibly forced. I thought about DNF'ing more than once in the first half of the book. When the book became more suspenseful, the writing improved a lot and I became a lot more invested in the characters. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to make up for the shallow beginning (even for Nicholas Sparks).

The only reason it isn’t five stars is I felt like the ending was rushed. There was a huge ending and then Sparks very quickly tied the bow. But otherwise it was a very thrilling book! I really enjoyed it!
