I did not like the first half the book. I felt like the relationship had no build up, it was insta love. But the second half of the book gave me what I wanted. The tension, the desire, the squealing and all the feels.

I cried a few times throughout this book. The author has a way with words and making me feel as though I was experiencing everything Cecelia was going through.

I really loved older Cecilia. She went through so much and I really felt broken for her. A few twists I didn’t see coming!!! I’m excited to start the last book to see how it all wraps up!!!

This book is a heart pounding. I’m still thinking about it hours after finishing it. I’m sad, elated and gutted.
There will be rereads in my future.

This dark romance novel will appeal to readers who are drawn to emotionally intense stories that delve into the complexities of forbidden love and the enduring effects of past relationships. The narrative explores the challenges and consequences of navigating a passionate, yet illicit, romance, while also grappling with the lingering impact of previous emotional entanglements. The characters' journeys will resonate with those who appreciate stories that examine the depths of human emotion and the intricacies of love, loss, and redemption in the face of difficult circumstances.

I really thought the FMC would get better, but she's annoying as ever. Maybe it's her age but there's only so much that can excuse.
Granted she was in the dark about a lot but she was too stubborn and added to the drama.
The relationship between Cecilia and Tobias is the most toxic I've ever read.
The timeline is so challenging and I'm not sure if that's the reason why I still feel a way about Tobias.
Colin deserves better
I'm kinda glad Sean moved on even though I feel like he also led Cecilia on.

DNF i said i would, but i can’t. i listened to the audiobook of the first one and didn’t love it, but it was good enough to make me want to listen to the second one. the second one has totally different vibes and tropes i’m very not into. also, the “frenchman” on the audiobook sounds like the candle from beauty and beast but horrible.

reread: the shit cecelia endured bc of tobias and co. is so outrageous like i fear the second hand embarrassment was worse than if that shit happened to me, myself and i. and frankly, tobias deserved to grovel the entire third book after everything he put cecelia through 😭
