A slow start and too many insider references to the prior book. But then it picked up and really liked the growing relationship and the characters m. This author is so good at dialogue and realistic but romantic development. The author is also really good at secondary characters that are interesting, add to the story, and not cliche.

Synopsis: This is the story of another Broussard and Chadwick. What happens when a workaholic meets a fun and outgoing billionaire with commitment issues? A beautiful story about really great people falling in love in the slowest and sweetest way possible.

Review: If you guys have read Wrong Text, Right Love, then you’ve already met Nyx and Nate. Nyx is Persy’s older sister and Nate is Ford’s brother. Their meeting is inevitable and they’ve crossed paths while helping both their siblings through the new relationship they find themselves in. Let me start by saying that Nyx and Nate are such incredible characters. I loved Persy and Ford, but Nyx and Nate gave me all the feels. I’m still so overwhelmed by their story, because like the title of the book, I didn’t expect it.

“This attraction that has my heart throbbing just with the memory of her raspy voice and her sweet scent.”

I absolutely loved Nyx. She’s such an incredible character and I love how dedicated she is to her job. For Nyx, working is all she’s ever known. Growing up in the Broussard family has been a little hard for her and now that she has roots set down, she wants it all to count for something. The whole time I was reading the book I kept telling myself that when I grow up, I want to be Nyx. That’s how much I love her. Then there, Nate. He’s got a reputation and while he’s a billionaire and has lots to his name, he’s actually so much more relaxed than you’d expect. He’s great, though. Such an interesting character, with so much to offer. Nyx and Nate connect because of their siblings and even though Ford keeps telling his brother to stay away, it’s clearly the hardest thing for Nate to do. And nobody can blame him, because Nyx is tempting in every way.

“She’s too important to be careless. I’m finding myself, hoping I emerge from the debris that was my old life, guided by her voice. She’s becoming my guide. Perhaps the feelings I have for her are real—and as I learn to love her, I’m discovering to love myself along the way.”

Both of them have commitment issues, so it’s only obvious that when Nyx discovers she’s pregnant after a misguided one night stand with the spawn of Satan, Nate steps in to help out. That’s the thing I love about Nate. He’s got this playboy reputation and he’s all alpha male billionaire and everything, but he’s such a good guy. Yes, they’re both attracted to each other, but Nyx knows that with Nate she’s not going to find forever and Nate’s still dealing with the fallout of his last relationship that he believes that he’s not ready to take the next step with Nyx.

Claudia Burgoa has crafted such a beautiful slow burn romance, because the whole book we watch Nyx and Nate grow closer, become friends, deal with life and all that it has to offer and then fall in love. Well, technically, they’re already in love with each other, but how can we get that right in the beginning? The sexual tension is so delicious and the feelings between the two of them were absolutely stunning. There were times when I had to pause and just deal with all these emotions Nyx and Nate were making me feel. Nate’s possessiveness about the baby was such a highlight of this book!

“For the first time, I can see myself with someone. Nathaniel Chadwick. He doesn’t care that I’m weird sometimes. He doesn’t mind my family—they are a handful. He is okay with my lists and my plans and even finds them endearing and brilliant. He loves my baby—also calls her ours. He likes to take care of me, and I don’t mind letting him. Actually, I love it.”

So many tropes that I enjoy fit so seamlessly into this story. It was one for the ages and I’m glad we got to see more of Persy and Ford. I love how Ford and Nate are similar, but at the same time, nothing alike. They’re both so vastly different, you can’t help but wonder what it would have been like had they fallen for the wrong sister.

Oh god, please, don’t let me forget about Nyx’s parents. They were hilarious in Wrong Text, Right Love, but they’re even better in this. Nate endures all of the chaos that comes with witnesses the Broussard parents flaunting their sex lives in public. Honestly, that entire family is such a riot. I would watch that television show or movie over and over again because they’re just so damn comfortable in their own skin that it makes for so much fun and excitement.

Please add both the books in this series to your TBR right away, because once you start reading Claudia Burgoa, you’re going to want to keep reading all of her books.

Thanks to Claudia Burgoa and L. Wood PR for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

What a sweet love story with a not typical surprise baby. This was such a unique story that was full of feelings and a true evolution of friends to lovers.
I feel in love with the Bassard family in Wrong Text, Right Love and was very excited to read Nyx’s story.
Nate and Nyx approach life so differently but are both classic over thinkers. I really wasn’t sure how these two similar people were going to come together. Yet they do come together in a sweet and funny way. They are both type A personalities. The banter and bond in this story bring you one step closer to falling in love with these two characters. It also creates a romantic chemistry that is sexy in a subtle way. Nate and Nyx are truly friends before they become lovers. Their love affair is more about truly accepting where people are and supporting them as they work through their own issues more so than the sexual attraction between them.
Nate and Nyx embark on an emotional journey. We are with them as their feelings and acceptance of each other brings them to a place of love. The evolution of their love story made this an emotional and romantic story. The characters were entertaining, the story well written and I was left with a full heart at the end. Didn't Expect You is an engaging read and I was invested in this story from the first to the last chapter. This was a 4/5 read.

4.5, Nyx y Nate son tan bellos

Another fantastic story by Claudia Burgoa. This is the story of Nyx and Nate. Nyx is a workaholic, whose carefully planned out life is derailed when she finds out she’s pregnant from a one night stand. Nate is an unattainable billionaire playboy and adrenaline-junkie.

Nyx and Nate are strong, independent opposites who work together so well! The chemistry and attraction between both is surreal.

This is a slow burn romance as both navigate this journey as friends. As their relationship grows they explore the connection they have. This book gave me all the feels. I loved Nyx and Nate’s relationship and their family.

This book was thoroughly entertaining and it was a sweet and adorable love story! I loved the amazing characters and the well-written storyline!

Wow such perfection from beginning to end. I seriously cannot stop gushing and crying about this book !! I didn’t think I would love this more than Wrong Text, Right Love but wow Claudia sure knows how to pull my heartstrings! I’m sure you’re all nauseated by how often I updated professing my love for Nate but seriously Nate tho ?? I haven’t read all of Claudia’s books yet (YES I KNOW WHAT A CRIME INDEED!!) but I can proudly say that Nathaniel Chadwick is my favourite ❤️ I just love how endearing and gentle and sweet and incredibly kind and whole hearted he was throughout the book. But don’t get me started on Nyx !! I just simply adore her and admire her and wish I was every bit of Nyx Brassard. I was definitely rooting for her happy ending and crying when she felt so defeated at the last 10% of the book. The slow burn was amazing and so gut wrenching, that I had to stop myself from reading so I could take a deep breath of air! There were so many moments where I wanted to push Nate and Nyx and be like “JUST PROFESS YOUR UNDYING LOVE ALREADY!” But the situation they were in was tricky so I understood. Sighs, I wish I could just read more about the chaotic Brassard family. They’re crazy but awesome. Now I’m *patiently* (not really) awaiting Pierce and Leyla !! I’m so ready for that emotional angst! Until next time ! 5 stars !!
