"Just Don't Fall" by Emma St. Clair is a cute, well-written, and heartwarming romance that I would highly recommend! If you're looking for an entertaining read with lovable characters and a great small-town feel, you can't go wrong with an Emma St. Clair book.
The story centers around Logan, a hockey player who's been kicked out of the big leagues. He finds himself back in his hometown playing for the local team, whose social media is managed by his ex-best friend's little sister, Parker. They decide to fake date to help Parker out with her family, but what Logan doesn't realize is that Parker has always had a huge crush on him.
This book is a perfect blend of the grumpy-sunshine, found family, sports romance, and best friend's little sister tropes. Parker is sweet and sassy, and it's clear she's navigated a difficult relationship with her father. Logan starts off as an "asshole" but quickly shows his true, kind nature. The chemistry between them is obvious from the start, and it's a delight to watch their relationship unfold. The entire local hockey team adds to the charm, and their protective dynamic with Parker gives off major Savannah Banana vibes!
The story flowed marvelously and was a true joy to read. While the book might not have as much high-stakes conflict as some others, that isn't a bad thing at all. It's an effortlessly sweet and entertaining read that will leave you smiling.
Nothing terrible, just also nothing particularly good😅🫣
pure joy
I was very excited to find this series and let me tell you this book did not disappoint. Parker has had a crush on her brothers best friend since she was 10 years old. They lost contact when he went pro. However when Logan got bumped down from the NHL it was a surprise to to find out that Parker was the media manager. Reconnecting plus fake dating equal nothing but good feels in this book.

Given that hockey romance is currently very much part of the current literary zeitgeist and also characterized by being rather spicy, it was honestly surprising to find one that was closed door and had a FMC who’d never been kissed. But a good surprise. Very cute and laugh out loud at moments. Great use of pop culture as part of the story rather than just name dropping to come off as trendy. And maybe it’s the fact that half of my family is there, but I’m learning I will always be a sucker for a book set in the mountains of western North Carolina, and they make me want to visit more often than I do. Will definitely be continuing this fall centered series.
Was mostly good, but there are a few "oh my gosh I can't possibly tell ____ about ____" chapters at the end which bring it down. Middle school drama is just boring.

ALC Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really enjoyed this advanced listener copy of book one in the Appies series by @kikimojo and @jennyproctorbooks. Pictured is my signed copy of the book, I listen to the audiobook though. The series follows a team of hockey players and their romantic lives. This one is about Logan and Parker and I loved their characters so much! Logan was more grumpy and Parker the sunshine! Logan joins the hockey team that Parker works for and they were childhood friends. This was such a good slow burn, it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time and didn’t disappoint when that first kiss made its appearance!
The narrators Emily Ellet and Jay Myers were fantastic. They brought each main character to life and I enjoyed the dual narration. I love an audio book and this was fantastic! I highly recommend it. Here is what you can enjoy:
