it's actually impressive how bad this book manages to be despite some damn good writing. it's probably funny to whoever's still watching david spade movies, but for a book published in 2016 this is truly embarrassing.

This is really a 4.5/5. (I wish we could give half stars.)
If you like Norm Macdonald, you'll love the book and laugh a lot. In fact, I don't know that I've read a book that made me laugh more; I've read some that are on par with it.
His writing is similar to Charles Portis' style and at times just as fun. The only things that keep it from a full 5 stars for me are that it falters with finding its rhythm a little in the opening chapters and that parts of the plot harken to that of 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,' though only in bits.
