I came into this book with higher expectations than the first because I was soooo excited for a Nix perspective. While I still love his character and the development we got from the rest of the guys in the house, the actual plot fell flat. The enemies dynamic felt childish and there wasn’t any tension. Things started to turn around when they started being civil in each others’ presence but it still felt blehhh.
Things could never be normal or okay between them and there was always some catastrophe that got between them and brought up the same issues over and over. But a lot of the problems were super unnecessary or didn’t really impact the full story but just seemed like attempts to up the page count for a few more chapters.
Honestly, the redeeming factors of this book were Berk, Jules, LJ & Marisa. I’m still planning to give their books a try but hoping they’re better.
For those that have read the Off-Campus Series - I wonder where we’ve seen roommates dating best friends before 👀
