This was a read for my work book club (that i picked hehe) and really enjoyed!
I’ve learned some ASL and had some exposure to Deaf culture in the past, but this book really gave me much more insight and understanding into the struggles Deaf communities face now. I loved the school setting and characters, as well as the pacing with worksheets from the Deaf culture class between POVs. My one major flaw with this book was how abruptly it ends! The characters’ struggles and the overall plot just feels completely unresolved. I still think I’d read this again or recommend it to others, but I think it was such a shame to leave off there. I don’t think the author intends on writing a sequel (because so many of these issues facing the Deaf community are unresolved as well) but I would love to read one if she ever does.

I wanted to love this book and found it really interesting and informative, but I didn’t feel like we got to know any of the characters particularly well and I was never really sure where things were going.

I really like Sara Novic's writing but the ending was lacking a bit for me. Otherwise loved this though.
