i would read jandy nelson's shopping list. the way she blends poetry and prose is so seamless and unlike anyone else's writing, i could never get tired of reading her books simply for how beautiful they are. and the story she tells here is full of life as her writing style. this book feels like a living breathing thing seeped in messessentialism, and i love it. i can't wait to read her newest release!

Life changing

Such a good book!! Started out great, ending was fantastic - definitely will read more by this author.

One of my absolute favourite reads as a teenager. Seems so brief and a flyby of an experience reading it as an adult but I adore the form and I love jandy Nelson’s way of describing feelings and love. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to experience, the way she writes it

I dont really feel anything about this book. I’m just going to say that straight away.

I read it in March this year but forgot to add it to my read list until now but honestly I can barely remember the plot line. All I remember is thinking ‘Oh, is that it?’ At the end of the book.

Sorry not sorry to all fans - I know this book has a high rating on here

Also was it just my imagination or did she fantasise about her dead sisters boyfriend?

this is what happens when a poet writes a novel - this woman has a way with words that makes me feel like my heart is being ripped out of my chest.

It is a great read about loss, forgiveness, friendship, and being able to move forward. Lennie is both a bookworm and a musician that has been having difficulty dealing with her sister Bailey’s death and finds comfort in sharing her grief with Toby, Bailey’s boyfriend. A new boy comes along and inspires her to excel not only as a musician but he somehow spices up her monotonous life. Later on, she gets caught between them two and struggles along with her family issues and coping up with her sister’s death. I know it sounds like a typical YA love story but I love the way Jandy Nelson told this story. This book has definitely got me especially since I could relate about dealing with loss and grievance. It surprised me and got my emotions unstable. I am surprised I’d enjoy it because I didn’t expect anything from it so I had no idea what I’m in for. It’s also poetic in a way, Lennie writes beautiful yet sad poems that no one really reads as far as she knows. I love how crazy yet raw and touching it is. It’s a book that has definitely pulled my heart strings.

I absolutely loved this book. It fit perfectly with my mood and sensibilities right now. Yes, it is a YA love story, but I love love loved the descriptive passages. And the poetry. The the way the scenery was a character. Obviously not for everyone, but it was great for me.
