Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green

From our earliest history to 2025, John Green proves once again his mastery of the written word as he sheds light on an illness that most of the first world have forgetten exists. Everything Is Tuberculosis was conversational and so easy to read, you don't even realize you're learning. My heart aches for Henry and the others who have lived with and are still living with this horrifying illness that should have been long since eradicated. I will be searching for ways to take the baton. John has set us on, in his words, a "virtuous cycle," and it's up to us to keep the cycle going.

I love that half of John Green's videos right now are just him connecting the most random and wild things to tuberculosis

"We have entered a strange era of human history: A preventable, curable infectious disease remains our deadliest. That's the world we are currently choosing. But we can choose a different world."

Genuinely one of the best books I have ever read, and definitely one I will return to as a continue as a medical student, a doctor, and a human being living on this planet.

Extremely moving book discussing the history and present of tuberculosis. Not overly academic yet still very informative.

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I picked up John Green's Everything is Tuberculosis, but honestly this was phenomenal. Green touches on the absolute myriad ways that this NOT historical disease has impacted (or been impacted by) human society. Just when you think there's no possible relationship between a topic and tuberculosis... Yep. There it is. Everything really IS tuberculosis.

This is also not the easiest read. The writing style is amazingly accessible given the subject matter. The page count (or time for audio) is quite short. But the emotional impact of the text is disproportionate to those factors. As Green states, and what kicked me in the pants emotionally- none of us want to live in a natural world.
