I really enjoyed this companion novel to New Kid. Great look at the challenges within the walls of a private school, as well as racism, intentional and otherwise.

Meh. It felt pretty disjointed and scattered. Nowhere near the coolness of New Kid.

Probably closer to 3.75 stars, but I don't know. I feel a little disappointed because I loved New Kid so much, yet this one felt a little rushed to me.

This was a worthy follow-up to the Newbery Award-winning New Kid. These clever graphic novels are entertaining for kids while having a depth that allows for adult enjoyment as well. My 11-year-old son read this before I did and also enjoyed it.

This one did not have quite as clear of a story arc as the first, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. Having said that, I loved every minute of reading this.
