Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. This was a sweet and lighthearted read with an easy-to-follow plot and a charming premise. I did find myself wishing for a little more depth and growth from the characters, as well as a touch more complexity in the storyline, as the conflict felt a bit rushed. The emotional intelligence on display led to plenty of open and heartfelt conversations, though at times these became slightly repetitive. The overall tone and style felt more YA than New Adult, which may suit readers in the mood for a gentle, low-stakes romance with a wholesome feel.

Title: The Chemistry Test
Author:  Georgina Frankie
Pages: 300
Rating: 3/5
Spice/Romance level: 🩷

This was a sweet read. The banter between CJ and Penny made me smile. The romantic gestures were leg swinging and it was just a wholesome, "clean" coming of age read.

I found the disability representation validating and made me look at things a little differently. We all experience our own illnesses in our own unique ways,  but I found Penny's ted talk spoke to me a little bit as well.

A few of the experiences made me smile and bought me back to my own memories of university life.

You'll love this book if you like;
- representation of disability and mental illness
- disabled FMC
- coming of age romance
- no spice
- swoony gestures
- banter
- college/University romance
- there's cats in this book!!

I got this one for the disability rep but it did not disappoint. As much as I enjoyed Forth Wing, the disability rep was . . . lacking. Yes, its nice to see a strong character with Ehlers-Danlos thriving but the reality is that this puts an unrealistic expectation on people with chronic illnesses. In reality, many with chronic illnesses like EDS have to spent more time recovering from expending a lot of energy.  The Chemistry Test is a much more realistic picture of what it is like to live with a chronic illness. I actually recommended this to a friend with EDS and POTS.

OH HOW I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK!

I don’t think this one will be for everyone, but as someone who so deeply related to them FMC as a wheelchair user, and having a lot of chronic illnesses I felt so freaking scene through every single page of this book!

The audiobook was good, but i believe this story is just as impactful regardless of what medium you choose to ingest! 😊

The writing was good. It was simple, yet still complex with tons of serials and the characters were so well done. I felt like i watched our FMC gain confidence in herself as the pages turned and I adored that.

I will absolutely be getting a physical copy of this book for my shelf because it’s so important. IMO we do not see enough romances that have people in wheelchairs for one, but also people dealing with these lesser known and understood chronic illnesses and representation is so important.

The Vibes:
-POTS representation
-Wheelchair representation
-EDS representation
-Slow Burn Romance
-Grumpy/Sunshine
-Depression Representation
-Collage Romance
-Disability Representation

Great romance book that shares what it is like to navigate the world as someone with a disability but at the same time reach your goals and dreams.
