The multi perspective narrative pulls you in. I found it fascinating but hard to understand entirely what had happened by the conclusion. Somewhat like a short story in which the reader is left with a great many questions at the book’s end.

Forgot to write a review. Really nice and creepy of a book for an author that doesn't write horror. Really enjoyed the characters as well. Conclusion was perhaps a bit abrupt, but I think I am okay with that given the topic. Did it really have to go for 666 pages just because Knausgaard based it on satanic death metal band worships in Norway?

I think this book is quiet genius. I found the whole construction (sentence to sentence) very impressive.

I would first, that the book's main project is the obfuscation of the spiritual self through consciousness I.e. that consciousness is the distraction from meaning. The sentences are nearly there to write away from plot, to write away from development. Which is why I would puts the characters within the realm of the hyperrreal.

Thank you Karl!

IT TOOK ME OVER A MONTH???? Fair. Knee-jerk reaction is that MANY THINGS ARE HAPPENING but also this was a wonderful first Knausgaard book. Full review to follow!

A hefty tome at near 700 pages but they fly by.
To try to explain this book wouldn’t do it justice, I’d just say find some time and polish it off in a couple of sittings as I can imagine doing it over a longer period may lead to you losing track of the characters and what’s gone before.
