It's good but it got monotonous halfway that it got tedious to read 'til the end.

Ransom Riggs' Tales of the Peculiar gives us realistic stories of peculiar beings throughout the history of time. Riggs has reimagined real-life events and combined it with his incredible imagination in writing all of the wonderful tales. They all felt factual and I wouldn't be surprised if peculiar beings existed! Behind the peculiarity, there is moral advices on love, family, and friendship engraved in each of the stories. I could no sooner choose a favourite story, I love them all! I'm saddened that I have not read this sooner and would recommend it for readers who love his Miss Peregrine books.

This was a fantastic little top-up book for fans of the Miss Peregrines series. I read this not long after finishing that series and found it amazing. A lovely insight into a new World and fabulous little tales collected by the lovable and familiar character of Millard Nullings.

I would highly recommend these unusual tales for fans of Miss Peregrines, or anyone who has a fancy for peculiarness. They range from gruesome to strange to fairytale like so are definitely worth a read.

I thought this book. would be about Ms. Peregrine's kids never fear though I love all of his book about peculiars, and I wish he would make more.
Either way I liked this book it was very good. It was something different, some of the stories were spooky or gory.
I believe there are 10 short stories in this book.
A cozy, rainy day with hot chocolate type of read. Reading it on Halloween with all that would be good too.

I love this book. It’s a great little prequel to the Peculiar Series.
Full of short stories that are a bit scary or rather unsettling. I was hooked and enjoyed every story!

So I was quite interested when I heard this book would come out. I quite loved the Peculiar Children's series, and I was hoping for more information about peculiars, and maybe even meet more different ones than just the ones in the normal series.

Well, and that is what this book is all about. A whole bunch of peculiar people. Though I don't really get the pigeon part, they didn't seem that peculiar, just rotten and annoying.

Out of the stories we have in this book I had 2 that I didn't particularly like. The first one was the cannibal one, on the one hand it was interesting, but it quickly became disturbing as hell and I just didn't want to read it any further. :|

The next story I didn't like, well, OK this one was just straight hate, was the pigeon one. My lord, those pigeons were horrible, terrible, and disgusting. Oh boohoo people are building high buildings, boohoohooo our lives suck. Urgh. :\ And what they did to make sure stuff didn't get too high was just sick.

My favourite story would be about the ymbryne and how the time loops were created. It was really interesting, and I flew through it. The MC was terrific, fun, sweet, brave, determined, and the peculiar society was happy to have her. She saved so many lives.

My second favourite is a tie between the Nightmare girl and the girl who loves ghosts.

I am a bit sad that the book was so short though, I am sure there are many more stories to tell, and it felt like only a few were selected.

Also I am absolutely in love with the gorgeous cover. It is so shiny, and beautiful.

But all in all, I did enjoy myself, and I would highly recommend this book to everyone.

I always enjoy this sort of book of new "old" tales to read which I've always found rang truer than the stories we actually grow up with.

I'm happy to finally be able to properly dive into these peculiar books, telling of a peculiar world like none other - ours, just an unexplainable moment away.
