Dear Friend,

This book will always have a special place in my heart. So will the film.

After almost ten years, I read it again. Whilst having watched the film a dozen of times in the past years, I've only ever read the book two times and maybe I started reading the first few pages, but forgot to keep reading. But I liked that I could read the book again, not knowing exactly
 everything that happened.

While the writing style is very simple and different from books I normally read, especially because it's letters, I still really enjoyed reading the book. Despite the easy style, the words still made me feel so many things. I can't describe it. Chbosky's simple description of people and situations still made me understand what he was trying to say.

This book showed me that it's okay to be the quiet kid. That you can still find nice friends. That you can still find people who appreciate you. But the book of course also showed me that you still need to try and participate.

Love always.

Loved this book back in HS, and I love it now. Only thing I found icky is the usage of the r-slur in reference to romaní people (even though it makes sense that suburban white people in the 90s would use such a heinous word to describe the people/actions associated {racistly, mind you} with them).

As a person who spends much of their life on tumblr, I needed to read this book to understand what the massive hype was about.

I was not disapointed. It was not quite what I had expected but all in all it was a beautiful novel that was about so much more than 'falling in love.'

It was a story about connections and relationships and growing and changing, topics that other novels try to tackle but never quite exicute.
I thought that TPOBAW was beautifully written (although I admittedly struggled to get into the idea that it was all written as letters) and it will be one of those books that I will have to add to my collection and then just happen to leave on my childs desk one day when I think that they will appreciate and learn from it.

There were parts that really resonated with me and I ended up loving each of the charectors despite their flaws.
Charlies naivety served to not so as to ailianate anyone and portray them as using him, but instead show their beauty as an individual from the perspective of someone who does not judge them but more observes them.

I also love reading books from a male perspective as the types of novels that I gravitate towards often have a female narrator/main charector.

It reminded me of 'The Outsiders' in a way which was refreshing and lovely.

All in all it was a beautiful novel that I would reccomend to anyone.
