Loved it a great story...Jace was just so loving he was controlling but Bethany wanted that from him, and though they had some rough patches I wouldn't say anymore but a great book. Loved it can't wait for Burn!

Wow! For some crazy ass reason, I have a thing for these books where a guy controls a girl. However, this was another level. Usually, it's just the bedroom, where the girl willingly submits, and then he controls her life subtley without the girl realising or caring. In this? He came out and said it. I control you, day and night. I'll admit, he was way too overbearing. I would have beat his ass, but she loved it, so I don't really mind. It was a lovely story of a girl holding onto her past, instead of giving into the "fairytale" as she put it. She realises ace actually doesn't trust her, and in the end it takes her life in danger for him to realise he does trust her. I can't wait to see Ash's love story, he was the one I liked from the beginning. He has no loving family besides his friends. And by the looks of it, it's going to start with him seeing his family as his visit is coming close. I hope his grandfather is lovely. He sounds it from what ash says. Always the grandfather with money who is nice and the parents below him trying to milk them dry on their death bed. Assholes. Time will tell.

K I feel like my three starts is generous considering the cheesiness of the chapters where Bethany is in the hospital.

I'm enjoying this trilogy, the stories are good. I think Maya is very redundant in her dialogue with driving home certain points, and at times its exhausting. I find spotted reading through most of the book a good solution. I actually preferred this to the first book, and I'll definitely be reading the third, I just can't bring myself to give more than 3 stars to a romance-the stories are never original or very well written. Good piece of fluff though!

I liked this book but I couldn't get over Jace's constant whining about the menage he put together. He asked for it when he knew the circumstances and it took him entirely too long to get over it. I had a love / hate for awhile but it seemed to work out in the end...Now all I need is Ash's f$%&ed up story and I'll be complete!!

I'm honestly a little amazed that this and the first book are written by the same author, because while I enjoyed the first one, I came this close to DNFing this one. The only reason I didn't is because I hoped it would turn around. While it improved slightly about 60% through, it wasn't enough to raise this beyond a 2-star rating for me. Given that I've seen multiple reviews talk about how book 3 is basically the same as this one, I will not be continuing the series.

Just...how do you go from understanding consent the way book 1 does to this? Fever was such a mess, between the instant obsession the "hero" gets with the heroine and how ineptly the VERY skewed power dynamics between the two were (outside of the D/s thing, which wasn't well-written anyway). "Hero" gets quotation marks, because the man basically kidnaps her, then makes her wholly dependent on him without any way of stabilizing her life or processing things. Big yikes. Again, it got a little better, but all in all, pass.

Fever, Breathless Trilogy #2, by Maya Banks
Grade: C-

“Most of all, I want you to know without a doubt that I’ve got your back. And your front. And your sides. I’ve got all of you and I’m not letting you go.”

Jace Crestwall is used to sharing everything, including women, with his best friend Ace but all that changes when they meet Bethany at a party. Bethany is different from other women they’ve shared and Jace discovers he wants to keep her all to himself even if that means alienating his best friend. Jace knows that Bethany is the woman for him but he must convience not only her, but everyone around them.

Bethany Willis spent her life either in foster care or on the streets with no real family except her adoptive brother Jack. At twenty three years old, Bethany takes odd jobs when she can find them and is shocked when she is propositioned by two men at a party she’s waitressing at. For once Bethany wants to let go and being with Jace and Ace is life changing. Bethany soon finds herself in a fairytale with Jace as her Prince Charming but secrets from her past just might destroy their happily ever after.

I didn’t love this book but it was way better than Rush and Jace was much more fun to read about. The men of this series are arrogant, alpha males who think that they know everything and make sure everyone around them knows this. The females in this trilogy so far have been very weak and helpless and seem to have no problem letting these men boss them around and treat them like children. It drives me crazy but for some reason I keep reading the series after saying I won’t.

Jace and Bethany have a very complicated relationship. I felt that things were and will always be one sided with them since he has all the money and she has nothing but what he gives her. I also hated that Jace let Ace have sex with him and Bethany and then punished them both for it. Jace either came off as a saint or a huge jerk and could never just be a good guy for the sake of being a good guy.

I wanted to like Bethany but she reminded me of Mia from Rush. They both seem okay with their much older man treating them like they are stupid and can’t survive without them. The fact that everyone is okay with Mia’s fiance Gabe crashing girls night (AGAIN) just drives me crazy. These men need to trust these women or move on. The age thing bothered me again with Jace being fifteen years older than a very immature Bethany. These two just didn’t click for me and I really wanted bethany to tell Jace to go to hell a couple of times.

I know I’ve said it before but I don’t think I can finish this trilogy. These men are jerks and just make me want to punch them the entire time and I can’t handle it anymore.
