The main character plot was trope-y and predictable. But the story was beautifully written. I definitely enjoyed it, and have loved other books by this author, but I probably won’t continue with this series.

When my 8 year old son insisted that I read this series, I couldn't say no. It's no surprise that Suzanne Collins has written another series that creates rabid fans. This story is adorable and inspiring and often gives 'all the feels' - It's also a nice quick read for advanced readers and probably a challenging read for intermediate readers looking for a push. I'll definitely be reading book two.

this one I didn't love but I didn't hate it either. I did slightly enjoy this one so I will continue this series. I kind of guessed what was going to happen but its also a middle grade so I can't judge to hard. I really just wanted to read something different by Suzanne Collins and that's what I got. onto the next :)

Interesting adventure fantasy but maybe too many cockroaches, rats, and bats for my liking. Kind of a Rats of NIMH meets Narnia. The 5th and 6th graders at my school love this series.
